2007 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel tank on 2007 Scion tC?
A: Start tank fuel service and repair by taking away the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from its connections with the fuel tube clamp and tank suction tube support. After removing the air vent fuel hose from the retaining clamp you should pinch the tab to open the claw locks before pulling the hose from its pipe while checking for any foreign substances or dirt buildup on the connector. Every disconnection should happen by hand rather than use tools and always protect parts with plastic bags while avoiding both scratches and foreign object introduction into the parts. Users should avoid force when dealing with stuck hose connectors and pipes by instead applying gentle forward and backward movement. Start by unclipping the three floor wire clamps and the floor wire before unclipping the clamp and letting the two claw fittings escape from the fuel tank protector plate. To proceed with the next steps, clamp the tank suction tube support without the clip fittings and break the No. 3 fuel tube clamp by parting two clip fittings before disassembling the No. 4 fuel tube clamp by removing its bolt. Detach the No. 1 fuel tank cushion by removing each of the ten cushions from the fuel tank. During assembly install new fuel tank cushions on the tank before tightening the No. 4 fuel tube clamp with its bolt at 6.0 N.m (60 kgf.cm, 53 in.lbf). Fit the clip positions to install the No. 3 fuel tube clamp together with the tank suction tube support. The floor wire installation requires positioning the claw openings to secure the fuel tank protector plate before adding the wire harness clamp and using three wire harness clamps to fix the floor wire. To attach the fuel tank vent hose users should position the hose connector against the pipe before pushing it towards the seat until it reaches the retainer position for claw locking. Check that the connected part of the fuel tube connector and pipe retains a secure connection by pulling on the hose connector and pipe before fitting the fuel tank main tube into the fuel tube clamp and tank suction tube support.
