2007 Scion tC Brake Master Cylinder Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake master cylinder on 2007 Scion tC?
A: Service and repair of the brake master cylinder starts with union removal done by disassembling stopper screw and master cylinder union and proceeding to eliminate the 2 grommets from the master cylinder. The next step involves fixing the master cylinder into a vise using 2 aluminum platforms before removing the O-ring from inside the master cylinder. Take out the snap ring by first pushing in the piston and following with snap ring pliers use but exercise caution since fluid will spit when pushing in the piston. Push the piston a second time after which the piston stopper bolt together with its gasket can be taken out. Removal of the No. 1 piston from the master cylinder body requires a straight pull because any scratches on its interior must be avoided. Complete the removal of the No. 2 piston from the master cylinder body by striking its flanged end against wooden blocks until the piston end is visible before removing it straight out. Follow the procedure without damaging the internal parts.
