2006 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the brake master cylinder on 2006 Scion tC?
A: The installation of the brake master cylinder begins with securing both the master cylinder and No. 1 way through two nuts which need to be tightened to 12.5 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Begin by securing master cylinder and No. 1 way using 2 nuts at 12.5 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Then clip two reservoir tubes onto the master cylinder. Property Special Service Tool 09023-00101 enables installation of the 2 brake tubes into the No. 1 way using a 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) torque without tool assistance but requires 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) force while using the tool. Utilize a torque wrench with a 30 cm (11.81 inch) fulcrum length during the operation. Perform the same method again to join the 2 brake tubes to the master cylinder. First install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and then place the lower cowl body mounting bracket LH while torquing its bolt to 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.). The No. 1 cowl water extract hose should be installed with a clip before securing the outer cowl top panel using seven bolts torqued to 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.). The procedure involves briding the reservoir with brake fluid followed by removing air from the master cylinder and brake line and checking the reservoir fluid level along with verifying brake fluid leakage. Place the windshield wiper motor and link into position before adding the cowl top ventilator louver LH followed by the hood to cowl top seal and winding up with both windshield wiper arm and blade assemblies before securing the front wiper arm head cap.
