2006 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the water pump on 2006 Toyota Solara?
A: The water pump service requires engine coolant draining followed by the removal of front wheel RH, front fender apron seal RH, engine moving control rod with bracket, engine mounting stay No.2 RH, and engine mounting bracket No.2 RH. The service begins by removing the generator V belt and fan before moving to separate the generator assembly from the water pump pulley with Special Service Tool: 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-00700) to remove the four bolts and pulley. Finally disconnect the crankshaft position sensor wire harness clamp. The project requires removing the water pump assembly after unfastening the 4 bolts, 2 nuts, bracket, and water pump from its position. Prior to water pump installation always remove FIPG packing materials thoroughly from the contacting surfaces between the water pump and cylinder block while preventing oil contamination by using a razor blade to clean effectively alongside a gasket scraper. Seal packing (Part No. 08826-00080 or equivalent) needs application to the water pump along with a nozzle opening of 2.2 to 2.5 mm (0.09 to 0.10 inch) and everything must get assembled within 5 minutes of packing. Place the water pump along with its bracket and install the 4 bolts and 2 nuts before tightening them to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.). Also reattach the crankshaft position sensor wire harness clamp. Use Special Service Tool: 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-00700) to install the water pump pulley with its 4 bolts while torquing them to 26 Nm (265 kgf-cm, 19 ft lbs.). Install the parts sequence starting with the generator assembly then continue with fan and generator V belt and finally move to engine mounting bracket No.2 RH and adjoining components including engine moving control rod with bracket as well as engine mounting stay No.2 RH and front fender apron seal RH and front wheel RH. The fluid level should be filled with coolant while inspecting for any potential fluid escapes.
