2006 Toyota Sienna Axle Shaft Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the axle shaft on 2006 Toyota Sienna?
A: The first step for servicing and repairing the rear drive shaft for 4WD requires using a screwdriver to remove the No.2 rear drive shaft inboard joint boot clamp. The next step involves removing the rear drive shaft inboard joint boot from its connection with the inboard joint assembly. Apply matchmarks to both inboard joint assembly and outboard joint shaft but avoid using punches during this operation before extracting the inboard joint assembly carefully. Avoid punches when marking the outboard joint shaft, inner race and cage then untighten the 6 bolts. Pull the cage toward the outboard part of the joint while using a snap ring expander to extract the snap ring. A combination of brass bar and hammer application will remove the inner race before proceeding to extract the cage along with inboard joint boot and its accompanying clamps. Pliers should then be utilized to take off the rear drive shaft outboard joint boot clamp before releasing the outboard joint boot from the outboard joint shaft and cleaning the outboard joint while protecting it from complete disassembly.
