2006 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and reinstall the rear Car Speakers assembly from the LH side on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: The first task to remove the LH rear speaker assembly requires disconnecting the negative battery cable's power source for at least ninety seconds to avoid seat belt pretensioners and Air Bags activation. Start by disconnecting the LH door handle assembly from the rear door inside and then remove the door pull handle followed by the rear door armrest base panel upper LH and finally the subassembly of the rear door trim board LH. Drill out these cut rivet heads from the rear speaker assembly using a smaller than 4 mm (0.16 in.) drill bit while maintaining straight drilling to prevent damage to both the drill and the drill hole before disconnecting its connector. Proceed carefully because discharged rivets will maintain their high temperature during the process before drilling out the remaining fragments. Vacuum cleaning will remove all debris from within the door panel. The air or hand riveter should be used to install the new speaker with 3 new rivets which must be properly placed against the speaker to avoid any gaps. After connector connection, the first steps involve replacing the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH followed by the rear door armrest base panel upper LH and the door pull handle and the rear door inside handle bezel LH. To finish the installation users must connect the cable to the negative battery terminal followed by initialization steps which are needed by specific systems post cable connection.
