• Q: How to service and repair the axle shaft assembly on 2006 Toyota Prius?

  A: A 10 mm hexagon socket wrench will drain the transaxle oil to service and repair the front drive shaft assembly where you should install a new gasket after removing the drain plug before tightening to 39 Nm (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft. lbs.). We will start the repair by unstaking the front axle hub nut LH using Special Service Tool: 09930-00010 along with a hammer while protecting the front drive shaft LH threads rather than using a 30 mm socket wrench to remove the nut.
