- Q: How to replace the Side Air Bag Sensor Assembly LH on 2006 Toyota Matrix?A: The replacement of a Side Air Bag Sensor Assembly LH requires following safety procedures for Air Bag Systems services. Disconnect the car battery negative terminal and wait for a minimum of 90 seconds until next steps begin. The first step requires removal of front and rear door scuff plates alongside front and rear door opening trims and the center pillar garnish lower. To replace the Side Air Bag Sensor Assembly LH first disconnect its connector and remove the nut before taking out the front seat outer belt assembly and side Air Bag sensor assembly LH. Staff must disconnect the car's negative battery terminal for 90 seconds while the ignition switch is off prior to new side Air Bag sensor assembly LH installation. Use the nut to fasten the assembly while tightening it to 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). The sensor needs replacement if it receives any form of impact or shows signs of damage. Check that the sensor wiring does not restrict any components or show loose connections while reattaching the sensor connector.
