2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Speed Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the rear speed sensor on 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The service and repair procedure for the rear speed sensor starts when disconnecting the battery cable from the negative terminal while waiting 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Remove the rear wheel before beginning to disconnect the speed sensor connector on the LH side of the vehicle while removing the clamp bolt from the upper control bracket and releasing the 6 resin clips from the sensor wire harness securing points on the frame and upper control arm and axle housing. When removing the rear speed sensor always protect the sensor tip and installation hole from foreign materials. Install the rear speed sensor using the bolt and apply 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) torque but maintain both the installation hole and sensor tip free from contamination. Secure the sensor wire harness to each location by positioning 6 resin clips which should not twist the wire before installing a clamp bolt to the upper control bracket at 13 N.m (130 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf) torque value. First reconnect the speed sensor connector before reinstalling the rear wheel while reestablishing cable connection to the negative battery terminal. Certain systems need initialization step following battery reconnection before performing the last check of ABS speed sensor signal.
