2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel injector on 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The first step for fuel injector service requires you to discharge the fuel system pressure by removing the negative (-) battery cable terminal then waiting for at least 90 seconds to avoid activating the Air Bag and seat belt pretensioners. Begin by disconnecting the fuel pump connector followed by reconnecting the negative battery terminal. Then start the engine before it stops naturally to finally turn OFF the ignition switch. Wait for the engine to crank multiple times to prevent automatic startup next freely open the fuel tank cap while checking for total pressure release. Starting with the ventilation value attachment, disconnect the ventilation hose and then proceed to disconnect the purge VSV connector and the purge line hose followed by the VSV from the intake manifold. Prior to removal of the fuel return pipe the technician checks for dirt and disconnects the connector manually while placing a plastic bag over it to prevent contamination. Protect each injector from drops when you remove delivery pipes then separate the O-ring as well as the grommet from each unit. Installation requires each injector to get a new grommet and insulator as well as an O-ring which needs a light gasoline coating before installing the injectors within the delivery pipe which should move without resistance. Assembly the front fuel pipe using new gaskets and union bolts which must be torqued in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Install the fuel return pipe at the fuel pressure regulator using a strong connection while you place the fuel pipe clamp. The engine wire goes back in place while the purge VSV installs with new gaskets for hooking up the ventilation hose. You should tighten the fuel pressure pulsation damper with new gaskets via the union bolt at specified torque values using Special Service Tool: 09612-24014 when needed. The vehicle needs the intake air connector and V-bank cover installed before reconnecting the battery terminal and performing system initialization because some systems need battery initialization after battery turn-on.
