2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to properly remove the A/C condenser on 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Before removing the condenser begin by disconnecting the negative battery cable terminal then waiting for at least 90 seconds to prevent Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation; initialization procedures may be needed for installation. First discharge the refrigerant from the refrigeration system while you proceed to remove the A/T oil cooler assembly together with the engine under cover and discharge tube through a bolt removal process followed by disconnecting the component parts keeping the bolt torque at 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) before freeing the nut using 22 N.m (225 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf) of torque. Cover all disconnected components with vinyl tape to protect against contaminants and apply compressor oil to lubricate two new O-rings before installing them on the discharge tube. Before installing the new O-ring on the liquid tube you must secure a new compressor oil and apply it to the O-ring before tightening the bolt to 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf). Then seal it with earlier procedures before installation. The process for condenser assembly removal consists of four bolts and two upper bracket removal before lifting the condenser and removing four bolts and two lower brackets followed by two bolts and two center brackets until the condenser is removed. Replace the condenser by adding 40 cc (1.4 fl.oz.) of ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil to the component while installing it through the reverse order of elimination.
