2006 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2006 Toyota Avalon?
A: The repair process for the thermostat (2GR-FE) starts with draining the engine coolant before removing the V-bank cover sub-assembly and engine moving control rod and engine mounting control bracket and engine mounting bracket front No.1 LH. Start by removing the fan and generator V belt before removing the idler pulley sub-assembly No.2 along with separating the radiator hose outlet. Start the procedure by dislodging the two bolts of the water inlet before extracting the thermostat itself. The new thermostat requires a fresh gasket while its jiggle valve should be placed facing upward yet positioned between 10 degrees of the specified mark or either side. Next install the water inlet using 10 Nm torque while doing the radiator hose outlet afterward and finishing up with idler pulley sub-assembly No.2 and fan and generator V belt before securing the engine mounting bracket front No.1 LH followed by engine mounting control bracket and engine moving control rod. The next procedure involves reinstallation of the V-bank cover sub-assembly followed by engine coolant addition and post-operation leak detection of engine coolant.
