2006 Scion xB Yaw Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Yaw Sensor on 2006 Scion xB?
A: Service and repair of the Yaw Rate Sensor requires users to disconnect the battery cable and wait for a minimum of 90 seconds before proceeding to prevent Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. The first step requires removal of the rear console box assembly through retracting the rear console box assembly. Start by disconnecting the connector from the yaw rate sensor while also unbolting its securing bolts which number two in total. The installation process requires checking that the yaw rate sensor remains free from damage and that no foreign matter is present in the area between the bracket and body as you verify correct sensor orientation. Secure the yaw rate sensor into position with the 2 bolts that need 14 N.m (143 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf) torque level before reattaching the yaw rate sensor connector. Put back the rear console box assembly before connecting the negative battery cable. Complete the process by calibrating the yaw rate sensor zero point then verify VSC sensor signals.
