- Q: How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the computer on 2006 Scion xA?A: The first step for servicing the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer) is disconnecting the negative battery cable while waiting at least 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag or seat belt pretensioner activation. To begin the procedure start by disconnecting the air cleaner assembly and the engine wire needs to have the 2 clamps removed. Detach the sensor connector then uninstall the engine coolant temperature sensor together with its gasket from its place. The installation process needs a new gasket mounted on the sensor before its installation with a torque setting at 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). After sensor connector installation you should reconnect the engine wire clamps. To finish the procedure reinstall the air cleaner assembly while reattaching the cable to disconnect and initiate procedures where required for system operation.
