2006 Scion tC Drive Belt Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the drive belt on 2006 Scion tC?
A: Starting drive belt service requires first removing the front fender apron seal on the right side along with the fan and generator V belt. Worker should loosen the V-ribbed belt tensioner arm with Special Service Tool: 09249-63010 by turning it clockwise before removing the belt. The Special Service Tool and additional equipment should be aligned during utilization and clockwise tensioner retraction needs to occur slowly over three seconds at minimum time with no rapid force exerted. After complete retraction of the tensioner system avoid any extra force applications. Start by installing the fan and generator V belt while using the Special Service Tool: 09249-63010 for clock-wise loosening of the tensioner arm to achieve proper tool alignment. Lift the tensioner with slow motions that reduce all possible force applications. The front fender apron seal RH requires reinstallation as the last step.
