2005 Toyota Tundra Air Bag Control Module Parts Q&A
Q: How to service the Air Bag Control Module while ensuring safety precautions are followed on 2005 Toyota Tundra?
A: The first step for servicing the Air Bag Control Module requires following safety protocols because disconnecting the SRS wiring connector under ignition ON will create DTCs. Every Air Bag repair must involve the use of fresh components and an Air Bag sensor assembly should be replaced after deployment. Allow the 90-second waiting period for the negative battery terminal disconnection to stop the Air Bag from activating. The necessary console for removal depends on your cab type because standard cabs and access cabs without large console boxes need their center bottom cover removed while access cabs with large boxes and double cabs require the shifting hole cover and rear and front console box removal before accessing the interior. Discard the holder from the Air Bag sensor assembly while removing its four securing bolts. The Air Bag sensor assembly requirements include using a new or undamaged unit; install the four bolts while torquing them to 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) and then reconnect the holder. Reassemble console parts in the opposite direction by attaching the front console box first then the rear console box and upper console panel followed by shifting hole cover and lastly lower center cover for access cabs with large front console or double cabs. Check the SRS warning light after restoring the cable connection to the negative battery terminal for correct system operation.
