2005 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2005 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The first step of replacing the cooler condenser assembly demands using Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 (07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080) to operate a refrigeration system discharge of refrigerant. The procedure begins with negative cable removal followed by coolant draining and removal of the radiator grille together with other components including radiator support to frame seal LH, fan shroud, and radiator assembly. Remove the bolt and seal washer from the discharge hose sub-assembly before disconnecting it while using vinyl tape to seal all exposed openings. To continue disconnect the air conditioning tube assembly following the same procedure. The user should disassemble the cooler condenser assembly by unbolt it through its 2 bolts and lift the condenser before detaching its lower bracket fittings then uninstall the RH and LH upper and lower brackets using a screwdriver that requires tip-taping. The installation process for a new condenser requires adding 40 cc (1.4 fl. oz.) compressor oil (RL-897 or equivalent) to the condenser unit. Secure the cooler condenser assembly by using the claws to attach upper and lower brackets while lifting the condenser to mount it on radiator lower supports using 2 bolts at 9.0 N.m torque setting (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). Install the tube assembly for air conditioning by peeling off the vinyl tape followed by adding new seal washer oil then bolting it tight enough at 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf). The same installation process should be performed on the discharge hose sub-assembly. Reinstall the radiator assembly alongside fan shroud as well as radiator support to frame seal LH and radiator grille. The charging process of refrigerant requires the technician to utilize Special Service Tools: 07117-48130, 07117-48140, 07110-58060 (07117-58060, 07117-58070, 07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080) for adding a predetermined amount of 600 plus or minus 30 g (21.16 plus or minus 0.6 oz.) while charging. Complete the process by warming the engine after which inspect for any refrigerant leaks.
