• Q: How to replace the windshield glass on 2005 Toyota Sienna?

  A: To access the windshield glass you first remove the roof headlining assembly which includes taking away all panels on each front door, and both front pillar garnish piece, visors, roof assist grip, upper console box, sun visor mounts, and the entire roof panel. Additionally detach the sunroof trim if sunroof equipped. First detach the wiper head caps, wiper arms, and front fender to cowl side seals from both the left and right sides to access the inner rear view mirror and cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly. Prior to cutting the moulding use a knife to safely trim the windshield moulding outer upper while avoiding body damage. Also detach the heater deicer connector if present. Funnel piano wire between the glass and car from inside then tie its ends to pieces of wood to remove windshield glass safely. Protect the paint from scratches by applying tape. Insert piano wire into the gap to cut adhesive before removing stops and sucking out the glass to keep as much adhesive on the body intact. Clean and prepare the windshield glass by removing all damaged stoppers, the dam, and adhesive then use white gasoline to clean the outer area without spreading it to the glass surface. Put two new stoppers on the glass by coating their install parts with Primer G and dry for 3 minutes before application. Install two fresh stoppers to the body part for windshield glass No.1. Place double-sided tape around the entire window glass except where you will put the new dam. After applying Primer G to the installation part of the dam and letting it dry, place the new dam where you want it. Before putting on the moulding use Primer G on both the glass and contact surface edges. Position the glass using a suction cup and check for levelness before marking reference points while leaving enough adhesive undisturbed on contact areas of the vehicle body. Put away the glass and use Primer M to cover the bared body area after applying Primer G to both glass sides and touched surfaces. Wipe off unintended primer promptly when this product is not dried. Use Part No. 08850-00801 or equivalent adhesive product by slicing the cartridge nozzle unlocking it for the sealer gun then spreading the adhesive across the glass surface. Place the glass properly in position using reference guides then push it into place easily and trim off all additional adhesive. Check for leaks when the adhesive sets and respond with auto glass sealer for each spot.
