2005 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front Brake Pad Set on 2005 Toyota Sequoia?
A: Check the pad lining thickness by removing the front wheel then inspect the measurement using a gauge to verify it exceeds 1.0 mm (0.039 inch) before continuing with the pad replacement. Release the clip and two pins and anti-rattle spring before disconnecting the two pads with their associated four shims. Anti-rattle spring and clip can be reused when they have no signs of deformation or cracks or wear and free of rust and dirt and external particles. You should verify the disc's thickness and runout before pad installation while replacing the anti-squeal shims with the new pads. Take out a little brake fluid from the reservoir before pushing the pistons in while using a monkey wrench handle or comparable tool which you need to cover with tape first. When replacing the pads choose to work on one wheel at a time to avoid having the opposing piston spring loose and if pushing the piston requires effort tighten the bleeder plug. Before placing the new pads' inner anti-squeal shims in position apply brake grease along their both sides but avoid permitting oil and grease to reach the pad's rubbing section. Install the new pads by first fastening the anti-rattle spring and 2 pins followed by the clip then reinstall the front wheel and tighten it to 110 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 82 ft. lbs.). End the procedure by pressing the brake pedal multiple times before verifying that the fluid marks the maximum line.
