2005 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the FAN AND GENERATOR DRIVE BELT on 2005 Toyota Prius?
A: The first step to replace the FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT (1NZ-FXE) requires engine under cover RH removal and air cleaner inlet No. 1 disconnection by loosening its clamp and detaching it from the air cleaner case. The installation of the idler puller assembly followed by loosening nut A enables relief of tension for removing the fan and generator V belt. During installation you should first position the V-ribbed belt on the pulleys before using adjust bolt B to set tension and installing the idler pulley assembly with nut A torqued to 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.). Check the drive belt deflection and tension after installation followed by reattaching the air cleaner inlet No. 1 then reinstall the engine under cover RH.
