2006 Toyota Prius Drive Belt Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the drive belt on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: The first step to service the drive belt involves taking off engine under cover RH and No. 1 air cleaner inlet by untightening their clamp then disconnecting both from the air cleaner case. The drive belt service starts with bolt A loosening followed by adjust bolt B operation to reduce tension before removing the belt. You should put the new belt onto each pulley before turning adjust bolt B to set the tension and then tightening nut A to 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.). Check the drive belt tension before rehanging the No. 1 air cleaner inlet to the air cleaner case by clamping it firmly to 3.0 Nm (31 kgf-cm, 27 inch lbs.). Completion of the procedure requires reinstalling the engine under cover RH.
