2005 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the blower motor on 2005 Toyota Prius?
A: The blower motor servicing process starts with taking out the instrument panel sub-assembly with passenger Air Bag assembly then succeeding steps include removing the lower instrument panel sub-assembly followed by transmission control ECU assembly and ECM together with network gateway ECU and heater to register duct No.1 and air duct sub-assembly using 2 screws. The first step requires disconnecting ten connectors before removing five clamps while unhooking the wire harness and extracting three screws with a nut. The removal process starts by taking out the air inlet servomotor after unscrewing three screws followed by disconnecting the blower motor control by removing its connector and two screws. The maintenance process starts by removing the 5 screws and blower motor cover from the cooler wiring harness sub-assembly No.2 before detaching this sub-assembly from the blower w/fan motor sub-assembly. You should unscrew the 3 screws in the blower w/fan motor sub-assembly followed by disengaging 2 claws to eliminate the air filter cover plate plus the clean air filter. Installation of the blower assembly starts with screwing in the 3 screws while using repair screw (part No.90159-70003) for screw (A) when necessary before reconnecting all 10 wire harness connectors with 5 clamps and finally the transponder key computer assembly connector. The installation process concludes with replacement of the lower instrument panel sub-assembly followed by installation of the instrument panel sub-assembly with integrated passenger Air Bag assembly.
