2005 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2005 Toyota Highlander?
A: The first step involves disconnecting the battery negative terminal followed by draining brake fluid while immediately cleaning painted surfaces which contact fluid. Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 allows the disconnection of 6 brake tubes which should be tagged for their proper reinstallation points before pulling up the lock lever and disconnecting the actuator connector. Then remove the 2 bolts, the nut, and the actuator with bracket following careful brake tube and wire harness protection. The brake actuator assembly must be separated from the brake actuator bracket through the removal of its 2 nuts. Install the brake actuator assembly by first screwing its 2 nuts to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in.-lbf) then accept the actuator with bracket using 2 bolts and a nut, torqued to 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf) taking care to secure the brake tubes and wire harness from damage. Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to connect brake tubes with the actuator bracket where each pipe should be positioned. Torque each connection to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf) based on the tool instructions. Complete the reservoir with brake fluid before using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to bleed the master cylinder and followed by bleeding the brake line and actuator assembly. Examine whether brake fluid leaks from the system and assess the reservoir fluid level before reattaching the negative battery terminal. The conclusion of the procedure includes performing yaw rate sensor zero point calibration as well as conducting hand-held tests on the brake actuator.
