How to replace the cigarette lighter assembly on 2005 Toyota Corolla?

The replacement of the cigarette lighter assembly begins by taking off the shift lever knob sub-assembly (M/T TRANSAXLE) and removing the console panel upper. Unhooking the two claws will permit the removal of the cigarette lighter cover. Turn the socket in the circumference direction to free the cigarette lighter bezel stay from the claw before pushing the socket out toward the room side. Position the socket at a right angle with the notch of the cigarette lighter bezel stay before pulling the assembly directly towards the room. Insert the new cigarette lighter assembly by placing the socket along the notch of the cigarette lighter bezel stay and apply maximum force while placing it for secure installation.
