2005 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Vapor Canister on 2005 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The first step when replacing the Evaporative Emission Control Canister requires eliminating the spare tire. You need to remove the charcoal canister assembly by first disconnecting the fuel tank vent hose from the charcoal canister by deeply installing the connector inside and then using portion A to pinch off the connector for removal. The same method should be used to remove the canister outlet hose No. 2 from the charcoal canister. Connectors must be removed from both the VSV and the CCV while extracting the purge line hose from the charcoal canister. There are three body bolts which need to be removed for charcoal canister installation. Secure the charcoal canister into position by using the three bolts then torque them to 20 Nm (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). Begin by attaching the charcoal canister to the purge line hose before you secure the VSV connector to the CCV and use a canister outlet hose No. 2 to reach the charcoal canister then complete the procedure by connecting the fuel tank hose to the charcoal canister.
