- Q: What steps are involved in overhauling the Tail Light assembly on the left side on 2005 Scion xB?A: Start fixing the rear combination lamp assembly LH by uninstalling the rear combination lamp service cover LH followed by disconnection of the connector and the removal of 2 nuts before extracting the rear combination lamp assembly LH. The next step involves removal of the rear combination lamp body gasket LH before taking out the 3 rear combination lamp bulbs and their socket-and-wire sub-assembly from the assembly by detaching each bulb from its socket. A screwdriver should be used to detach the 11 claws before removing the rear combination lamp lens LH through three cycles of removing the rear combination lamp socket and wire sub-assembly LH. The technician must first dispose of the rear combination lamp lens gasket LH before removing the rear combination lamp lens & body LH. The first installation step includes inserting a new rear combination lens gasket onto the rear combination lamp lens & body LH before you place the rear combination lamp lens LH on top. A new rear combination lens gasket needs replacement since it cannot be reused while a testing procedure with automatic car wash or hose needs to verify that water stays out of the rear combination lamp assembly LH.
