2004 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and reinstall a windshield on 2004 Toyota Tundra?
A: Support the hood with your hands and take off the hood support before starting the process. Start by taking off the inner rear view mirror then proceed to remove the assist grips on both sides of the driver and passenger area with a T30 torx driver (part number 09041-00030). Start by removing the front pillar garnish and sun visors after disconnecting the connector between the lights and visors. Lift the left side lens to detach the screws and clip that secure the front personal light and sub-visors. Then disconnect the connector to remove the unit. For vehicles with a sliding roof disconnect all connectors and unscrew it. And for cars without one remove it through 4 screws only. Use a tool set to take out sun visor holders, headlining front panels and wiper arms when you remove their protective caps and bolts. Pull the cowl top ventilator louver off by removing all seals, clips, and screws on the hood to cowl top connection. Pull off the roof side rail Weather Strip at the front using Special Service Tool: 09806-30010 and cut off the windshield outside moulding and upper moulding with a knife to proceed. You can take out the windshield glass when you insert piano wire between the body and glass then tie the ends to wooden blocks while cutting the glue layer carefully to prevent damage to paint or exterior details. Prepare the body surface for bonding by keeping the attached adhesive when cleaning and prepping it. Also remove adhesive residue from taken glass panels. Put back any trips that have been harmed and put brand new pieces in place with a focus on lining up the notches. Place the glass properly on the body while applying Primer "G" to its surface and allowing Primer "M" to dry on the body before keeping the elements in place. Attach adhesive from Part No. 08850-00801 and place the windshield glass onto the moulding before securing both elements with a strong hold until the substance sets. Perform a leakage check once the adhesive has hardened and fix any detected issues. Put the roof side Weather Strip back in place and restore both the outside windshield molding plus front roof side rail Weather Strip components before placing cowl top ventilator louver and wiper arms with appropriate torque settings. Reinstall all front roof headliner components including sun visor holders, console box, personal front light, main visors, and garnish followed by grip holders and the inner mirror.
