2004 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Steering Angle Sensor with VSC on 2004 Toyota Tundra?
A: To work on the Steering Angle Sensor with VSC function start by taking the steering wheel pad off and set the wheels parallel to the vehicle. Use a T30 torx socket wrench to remove the steering wheel lower No. 3 and No. 2 covers then loosen the two torx screws until their grooved edges catch on the screw cases. Use your screwdriver to disconnect the Air Bag connector at the steering wheel while pulling out the wheel pad without disturbing the Air Bag wire harness. Keep the steering wheel pad in an upright position and do not dismantle the parts. Start by disconnecting the horn connector then remove the steering wheel by loosening the steering wheel set nut first while placing matchmarks between the steering wheel and main shaft assembly. A technician should use Special Service Tool 09950-50013 (part numbers 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021) to extract the wheel. Take out the spiral cable and steering angle sensor from the steering assembly in that order. Technical assembly happens in steps opposite to disassembly.
