2004 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the steering angle sensor on 2004 Toyota Solara?
A: The operation to replace the steering angle sensor requires an initial step of observing restraint systems service precautions followed by disconnection of the negative terminal from the battery. Skip the procedure of repositioning the front wheels' direction and remove the steering wheel cover lower No.2 then lower No.3 followed by the horn button assembly and the steering wheel assembly using Special Service Tool: 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021). Start by taking out the steering column cover lower and then the steering column cover together with the spiral cable sub-assembly. The removal of steering sensor starts by disconnecting its connector followed by using the two claws to remove it. The new steering sensor installation requires connecting its connector followed by spiral cable sub-assembly assessment for scratching, cracking, denting, or chipping; using a new replacement for compromised components. The driver must first verify that wheels remain straight before inserting the spiral cable sub-assembly followed by spiral cable centering before final installation of the steering wheel assembly. The battery negative terminal should be reconnected followed by horn button assembly installation and warning light check while initialization should be performed with the understanding that other system initialization becomes necessary upon negative terminal reconnection.
