2004 Toyota Solara Radiator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the radiator assembly on 2004 Toyota Solara?
A: Engine coolant draining is required before disconnecting the radiator reserve tank hose or pipe followed by draining the radiator hose inlet and outlet and No.2 and No.3 oil cooler outlet hoses when using Automatic Transmission. Unscrew the two bolts which secure the air cleaner inlet assembly. Start by disconnecting the 2 horn connectors and removable the hood lock release lever cover and extracting the bolt illustrated in the diagram before securing the radiator support using its 4 holding bolts. The following operation requires disconnecting the fan motor connector then removing the radiator from the body. The lower radiator support along with fan assembly with motor can be removed after disconnecting the 3 bolts. Secure the fan assembly with motor onto the radiator by using 3 bolts then apply a torque of 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.). After placing the radiator back in its original body position connect the fan motor connector. Install the upper radiator support through its 4 mounting bolts while torquing them to 14 Nm (142 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) before reattaching the 2 horn connectors. The air cleaner inlet assembly needs to be installed with 2 bolts following a torque setting of 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.). After adjusting the hood sub-assembly personnel need to add engine coolant and examine the engine for any indicated leakage.
