2004 Toyota Solara Thermostat Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2004 Toyota Solara?
A: The thermostat replacement process begins by draining engine coolant followed by disassembly of the fan V-belt with the generator and continuation with removing the generator assembly. After disconnecting the radiator hose inlet the water inlet might be uninstalled by removing the 2 nuts which disconnect the cylinder block. The new thermostat installation requires placing the gasket with the jiggle valve positioned up before making sure its alignment stays between 10° on both sides of the correct placement. Use the 2 nuts to reinstall the water inlet before torquing them to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.) and reinstall the radiator hose inlet and the generator assembly along with the fan and generator V belt. Finish by pouring engine coolant into the system while inspecting for any fluid leakages.
