2004 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Fuel Door Release Cable on 2004 Toyota Solara?
A: The replacement of the Fuel Lid Lock Control Assembly (Coupe) starts with unclipping the luggage compartment floor mat and rear floor finish plate by using a screwdriver to remove seven clips. The first step involves removing the side tray assembly by unbolted the tray and removing its bolt while the inner LH luggage compartment trim cover needs 2 clip remover tools for removal. First prepare the screwdriver tip with adhesive tape then disassemble the front door scuff plate LH by removing 3 clips with the screwdriver. Remove the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH by using the same method of removal. You will then proceed to take out both the rear seat assembly and the quarter trim panel lower LH. The luggage door lock open bezel requires a lift from its rear edge to disconnect the clip while moving the bezel backward to free the claw before you remove the clip from the opener and reattach it back to the bezel. First remove the luggage open door lock sub-assembly by disconnecting two cables and removing two bolts. Then remove the cancel cylinder and its assembly by detaching the bolt and cylinder. The first step is to disengage the claw from the fuel lid lock control cable sub-assembly before removal of the cable which is followed by removal of the lock retainer. You must install the lock retainer first before the cable that makes up the new fuel lid lock control assembly according to the provided illustration. The installer should replace both assemblies as the first step by adding the bolt with a torque value of 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) then repeating the process with the luggage door lock open lever sub-assembly secured using the identical torque of 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf).
