• Q: How to replace the throttle body on 2004 Toyota Sienna?

  A: The first step before replacing a throttle body requires draining engine coolant. To access the V-bank cover the socket hexagon wrench 5 requires removal of all 3 nuts before extracting the cover. Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector along with all 3 vacuum hoses and the fuel vapor feed hose from its 2 locking clamps as you remove the air cleaner cap sub assembly. Lose the 2 air cleaner cap bolts and hose clamp bolt to remove the air cleaner cap and the attached air cleaner hose No. 1 with the filter element. Unplug the throttle motor connector and disconnect both water by pass hoses No. 2 and No. 3 to take out the throttle body assembly. Turn off the throttle body using 2 bolts and 2 nuts before removing its intake air gasket. Install 1 new gasket over the intake air connector and multiply 2 bolts with 2 nuts using torque settings at 11 N.m (112 kgf.cm, 8 ft.lbf). Reconnect the water by pass hoses No. 2 and No. 3 before joining the throttle motor to its connector. Install the air cleaner cap sub assembly and tighten it to 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf). Add engine coolant before testing for leakages in the system. Complete the installation by placing two retainers on the V-bank cover before inserting it and tightening three nuts using a socket wrench 5 to 7.9 N.m (81 kgf.cm and 70 in.lbf).
