- Q: How to remove and install the Side and Curtain Shield Air Bag Sensor Assembly on 2004 Toyota Sequoia?A: Starting the Side and Curtain Shield Air Bag Sensor Assembly removal process requires you to take out the rear door scuff plate alongside the front door scuff plate and front seat outer belt floor anchor and center pillar lower garnish. Then disconnect the connector from the side and curtain shield Air Bag sensor assembly while the assembly remains installed before removing the retractor of the front seat outer belt. To proceed with sensor assembly removal you must unfasten the three securing bolts. Always employ new SRS components for installation because you should not revisit sensors which were part of impacts or attempt to fix them. The side and curtain shield Air Bag assembly requires installation of the three bolts at 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) at which point the connector can be attached after completing the sensor assembly installation. Verify that the connector maintains the required torque. You must replace the sensor assembly with new units whenever it shows defects or if it experienced a drop incident. Verify that no contact exists between SRS wiring and other system components or when wires are compressed. Verify that all sensor components are tight by performing a shaking test after finishing installation. The retractor of the front seat outer belt must be installed with 44 N.m (450 kgf.cm, 32 in.lbf) torque before moving onto center pillar lower garnish installation followed by front seat outer belt floor anchor using the same torque before installing front door scuff plate and rear door scuff plate.
