2004 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the starter motor on 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The procedure for starter motor service and repair starts by taking out the V-bank cover together with the intake air connector and intake manifold assembly. The starter removal process requires you to start by removing the 2 bolts securing it to the cylinder block and then disconnect the starter from the cylinder block and disconnect the starter connector followed by removing the nut and bolt to disconnect the starter wire before ending with the removal of the bolt that disconnects the engine wire protector from the starter device. Install the engine wire protector to the starter by using the bolt and ensuring a torque of 9.81 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 84 in.lbf). Next attach the starter wire through its nut until it reaches the mentioned torque value before you connect the starter connector to its mounting position on the cylinder block. Affix the starter engine wire through the bolt before mounting the starter using two bolts tightened to 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf). The procedure ends with placing back the intake manifold assembly and intake air connector and V-bank cover.
