  A: The service process for changing the TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY (ATM) starts by taking out INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSY CENTER and FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH and LH and BATTERY and AIR CLEANER ASSY and AIR CLEANER HOSE NO.1. To remove the TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY follow these steps starting with taking off the control shaft lever nut followed by disconnecting the control cable from the shaft lever before removing the clip which disconnects the cable from the control cable bracket and continuing with cable removal from the control cable clamp while detaching the cable end from the floor shift assy rod followed by disassembling the control cable from its body by removing 2 nuts and 3 bolts. Install primary components by pulling in the control cable into the body then tightening its 3 bolts to 4.9 Nm (50 kgf-cm, 43 inch lbs.) while setting the cable end facing up. To complete installation the technician first attaches the control cable along with two securing nuts to the specified torque setting of 11.8 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Subsequently they should join the control cable to its clamp then secure the temporarily mounted control cable to the control shaft lever by installing nuts before attaching the complete assembly to its bracket.
