2004 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser on 2004 Toyota Avalon?
A: The servicing process starts with removing refrigerant from the refrigeration system before evacuating air before system charging with the correct amount of 600 plus or minus 50 g (21.16 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) refrigerant while performing leak inspections. First detach the radiator and condenser fans before uninstalling the two radiator upper supports. The service disconnects the discharge hose and liquid tube by unbolting them with precision and torques the bolts to 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) then capping open system fittings promptly to stop moisture or dust entry. Two new O-rings require application of compressor oil for lubrication before they can be installed onto the hose. When removing the condenser begin by taking out the two condenser set bolts followed by pushing the radiator toward the engine while pushing the condenser towards the radiator to finally pull it upward. New condenser installation includes adding 40 cc of either ND-OIL 8 or an equivalent compressor oil model. The installation procedure performs in the opposite sequence of removal.
