2004 Toyota Avalon A/C Accumulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator from the modulator on 2004 Toyota Avalon?
A: Start the A/C accumulator replacement procedure by applying a 10 mm hexagon wrench (0.39 in.) to take off the modulator cap before removing the filter. Fit new A/C accumulators into the modulator through pliers while keeping them inside the vinyl bag until ready for installation with the double layers pointing upwards. Install the filter into the modulator by placing the protruding end downward and replace the cap. Use compressor oil referred to as ND-OIL 8 or equivalent and apply it to the O-rings as well as the screw portion of the cap before installing the caps with a 10 mm (0.39 in.) hexagon wrench to achieve a final torque of 12.3 N.m (125 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf).
