2004 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the blower motor on 2004 Toyota 4Runner?
A: To service and repair the blower motor, begin by removing the console upper rear panel sub-assy, console panel sub-assy upper, console upper panel garnish No.1, console upper panel garnish No.2, console box assy rear, cowl side trim board RH, instrument panel under cover sub-assy No.2, glove compartment door stopper sub-assy, glove compartment door sub-assy, instrument panel finish panel lower No.2, instrument panel register assy No.2, and air duct No.2, which involves removing 4 bolts and disconnecting the instrument panel safety pad sub-assy, followed by removing 3 claw fittings to detach air duct No.2. You can first remove the blower assy by releasing seven clamps and detaching connectors and removing one bolt with two screws and a nut and suspending the claw fitting. Then continue to separate the clean air filter sub-assy by releasing two claw fittings before extracting the clean air filter from the air filter cover plate and ultimately taking off the air filter cover plate. The installation of replacement parts begins with unscrewing 3 screws on the blower damper servo sub-assy followed by removing the blower motor control through screw removal and culminates in elimination of the blower W/fan motor sub-assy after unscrewing 3 screws. Position the blower assy with the claw fitting then secure it by tightening one bolt along with two screws and a nut while torquing the bolt to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf) and the nut to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) and finally connect 7 clamps and restore the connectors.
