- Q: How to replace the cigarette lighter assembly on 2004 Scion xB?A: Installation of a new cigarette lighter assembly starts with disconnection of the battery negative terminal. The replacement starts with removing the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assy center and instrument cluster finish panel sub-assy lower center. The 2 claws on the cigarette lighter cover need to be disengaged before removal. Uninstall the cigarette lighter assembly by first removing the cigarette lighter knob and element assembly then rotating the socket according to the illustration to unhook the claw from between the socket and cigarette lighter bezel stay while pulling the socket straight out. Push the socket toward the notch on the cigarette lighter bezel stay to get rid of the cigarette lighter assembly. Installation starts with aligning the socket to the cigarette lighter bezel stay notch before pushing the cigarette lighter assembly with maximum force followed by cigarette lighter knob assembly and element assembly installation.
