  A: Before you install a new alternator begin by detaching the generator assembly through steps which include removing the terminal cap followed by the nut and generator wire then disconnecting the generator connector and unclamping the wire harness. The installer must loosen bolts A and B before releasing fan and generator V-ribbed belt tension so they can remove the fan and generator V-ribbed belt. The procedure begins with unfastening bolt A and the nut to detach the fan belt adjusting bar and continues with removing bolt B together with the generator. The generator installation process requires first securing the generator with bolt B before placing the fan belt adjusting bar with bolt A while tightening the nut to 11 Nm (112 kgf.cm, 8 ft.lbf). To adjust the V-ribbed belt tension you should insert the adjusting bar between the engine mounting bracket and generator while pushing it forward towards the vehicle front but avoid inserting it between the oil control valve and generator to prevent damage. Accomplish bolt tightening by first applying 19 Nm (189 kgf.cm) torque to A then applying 54 Nm (551 kgf.cm) torque to B. First fix the wire harness clamp and join the generator connector and secure the generator wire with its nut at 9.8 Nm (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) before setting the terminal cap in place.
