How to replace the liftgate lift support on 2004 Scion xA?

Beginning the replacement requires removing the back door stay assembly from the LH side by disassembling the two bolts and stay from both the door panel and supporting the back door with your hands throughout the operation. Remove the 2 bolts and the stay by taking them out from the body panel. Install the stay by attaching it with the provided 4 bolts then tighten them to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) torque setting. The installation step on the RH side follows identical steps as the LH side.
