The first step of servicing the back door support involves removing the left-hand side back door stay assembly through a process of door panel bolt and stay extraction with hand-held door support and afterward removing the body panel bolts and stay. Both installation directions use the same methodology where technicians should install the back door stay assembly LH using 4 bolts and apply torque to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in.-lbf). To dispose of the stay position it horizontally in a vise with its piston-rod in the extended position before using a metal blade to systematically cut between A and B while wearing protective eyewear and shielding the cutting area because the colorless and odorless and harmless gas may propel metal fragments into the surrounding area.

The back door stay assembly LH should be fixed horizontally in a vise with the piston-rod extended when performing disposal. Cut the material portion between points A and B through gradual metal sawing with safety glasses in place to release the gas. Be sure to cover the cutting area since the metal debris can discharge through the colorless and odorless harmless gas. The same methods should apply to handle the RH back door stay assembly.

Remove the 2 bolts and the stay from the body panel.
