2003 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair fuel injectors on 2003 Toyota Sienna?
A: Start fuel injector repair and servicing operations by taking off these components: outer front cowl top panel assembly combined with V-bank cover as well as air cleaner cap with hose together with air intake chamber assembly. The service begins with unscrewing the injector connectors and extracting air assist hoses and pipe by detaching the air assist pipe from the No.1 fuel pipe bracket before removing the hoses from the intake manifold. The service begins with disconnecting the No.1 fuel pipe by removing the fuel hose clamp and disconnecting the fuel tube connector while following safety precautions because fuel remains in the line. Carefully remove the delivery pipes while taking out the 6 injectors and fuel pipe without dropping the injectors and remove the 4 spacers located on the intake manifold. The process includes pulling out the six injectors where technicians will extract the two O-rings along with the two grommets from each device. Installation requires new insulators and grommets to be placed on each injector followed by applying a light coat of spindle oil or gasoline to the new O-rings before proper installation. Use spindle oil or gasoline lightly on the delivery pipe contact point near the injector O-ring before installing the 6 injectors with connector ends facing outward. After first placing the 4 spacers onto the intake manifold you need to add spindle oil or gasoline where the intake manifold meets the injector O-ring before installing the delivery pipes and fuel pipe with the numerous injectors in place. The smooth movement of the injectors depends on the temporary bolt installation for delivery pipes and the fuel pipe bolt; any restricted movement requires new O-rings. Refit the 4 delivery pipe bolts to 10 N.m torque (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) while the fuel pipe bolt needs 19.5 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf). Fitting the No.1 fuel pipe to the fuel filter requires proper securement of the fuel hose clamp until it makes a distinct "click" sound. After reconnecting the intake manifold to the air assist hoses you must install the air assist pipe on the bracket located near the No.1 fuel pipe. After connecting the injector connectors you must install the air intake chamber assembly together with the air cleaner cap and its attached hose followed by the replacement of the outer front cowl top panel assembly. Finish the fuel leak check process by protecting new O-rings from damage during installation and soaking them with spindle oil or gasoline before using them.
