2002 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair fuel injectors on 2002 Toyota Sienna?
A: You should start fuel injector service and repair by taking off the outer front cowl top panel assembly along with the V-bank cover and the combination of air cleaner cap with hose and air intake chamber assembly. Disconnect the injector connectors before removing air assist hoses and pipe by first detaching the air assist pipe from the No.1 fuel pipe bracket and then taking away the hoses from the intake manifold. A careful procedure must be followed when disconnecting the No.1 fuel pipe by first removing the fuel hose clamp along with the fuel tube connector since the fuel line retains pressure. Use a remove the delivery pipes and their attached six injectors and fuel pipe by removing five bolts before extracting the four spacers located on the intake manifold. The procedure requires removal of six delivery pipe injectors along with extraction of their two O-rings and two grommets from each unit. Installation requires mounting new grommets and insulators on each injector followed by application of spindle oil or gasoline to new O-rings before their installation. Install the six injectors into position while rotating them both clockwise and counterclockwise after applying spindle oil or gasoline to the delivery pipe contacts at the injector O-ring. Secure the injector connector externally then set the four spacers onto the intake manifold while applying spindle oil or gasoline along the areas where the intake manifold contacts the injector O-ring. After setting delivery pipes with their fuel connector next to six intake manifold positioning injectors users can install four bolts along with a fuel connector bolt. A smooth injector rotation must be maintained; change O-rings if injections are not functioning properly. Secure the four delivery pipe bolts to the intake manifold with 10 N.m torque and the single fuel pipe bolt to 19.5 N.m torque. Use the No.1 fuel pipe to attach the fuel filter but ensure installation of the fuel hose clamp leads to a "click" sound. Reinstall the intake manifold air assist hoses while mounting the air assist pipe to the bracket which extends from the No.1 fuel pipe. The installer must connect the injector connectors before installing the air intake chamber assembly, the air cleaner cap with hose and outer front cowl top panel assembly. Finally, check for fuel leaks.
