2003 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the side Air Bag assembly for the manual adjuster type on 2003 Toyota Sequoia?
A: Starting service on the manual adjuster type side Air Bag assembly requires removing the front seat using these steps: firstly remove 4 seat track covers, 4 bolts then separate the side Air Bag connector while carefully preserving the Air Bag wire harness. Disengage the front seat before proceeding with the removal of the headrest and reclining adjuster release handle followed by the front seat cushion shield which requires two screws to remove and finally remove the front seat cushion inner shield which also has two screws. Continue to the removal steps by cutting three hog rings while disconnecting the wire harness from the side Air Bag assembly followed by removing four bolts. The armrest should be attached by bolt with tightness of 37 N.m (380 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) before close the fastener. The seatback assembly needs to be fastened by 4 bolts that must reach 43 N.m (440 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) torque while replacing the assembly if any defects are present. Attach the wire harness to the reclining adjuster inside cover through the use of three new hog rings and avoid wrinkle formation. The installation process requires first using two screws to fix front seat cushion inner shield and outer shield before adding the reclining release lever and headrest. Reinstallation of the front seat must be done while avoiding body damage and connecting the side Air Bag connector before tightening 4 seat track cover bolts to 37 N.m (380 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf).
