First, remove the front wheel before taking off the 2 nuts along with the sway bar link and bar link on the front sway bar assembly from the left-hand side. When the ball joint spins with the nut, use a 6 mm hex wrench to maintain the stud position. Follow the same steps for the right-hand side. The same process must be performed on the right-hand side. Before fastening the nut on the front sway bar link assembly make sure you move the ball joint stud forward and backward five times then tighten the nut with a torque wrench at a defined rate of 2 - 4 seconds per turn while reading the torque on the fifth turn which should be between 0.05 - 1.96 Nm (0.5 - 20 kgf-cm, 0.4 - 17 inch lbs.). The technician must then disassemble the front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 from both sides before proceeding to remove the rack & pinion power steering gear assembly while suspending the engine. The front suspension crossmember sub-assembly requires separation before removing the front sway bar through several steps according to 2WD or 4WD specifications. 2WD requires removal of 4 bolts and front sway bar bracket No.1 LH, front sway bar bracket No.1 RH, as well as 2 front sway bar bushes No.1. When installing the front sway bar position two front sway bar bushes No.1 along with front sway bar bracket No.1 LH and front sway bar bracket No.1 RH in front orientation with the bushing on the inside of the bushing stopper. Reinstall the front wheel by tightening it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.); after installation check the front wheel alignment.
