2003 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the seat position Air Bag sensor on 2003 Toyota Matrix?
A: Before servicing the seat position Air Bag sensor start by disconnecting the battery negative terminal followed by necessary safety precautions. The service of the seat position Air Bag sensor begins by first removing the front seat track cover LH rear inner and outer parts from the vehicle followed by removal of the front seat assembly LH. Begin by removing the seat position Air Bag sensor connector and then fasten the sensor with a torx socket wrench (T30) that contains the torx screw. Exam the seat position Air Bag sensor for any signs of breakage. Utilize a torx socket wrench (T30) to fasten the new sensor through its torx screw while applying 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 11 in.lbf) of torque and reinstall the sensor connector according to specified torque values. The sensor assembly must receive replacement with a new one whenever it suffers damage from dropping or displays physical damages. During installation the SRS wiring system should maintain its alignment with other components and avoid any contact with pinch points. Once the sensor assembly is secured perform a loose-area check by mild shaking motion. The front seat assembly LH needs to be reinstalled at 47 N.m (480 kgf.cm, 35 ft.lbf) and SRS warning light functionality should be checked after installation.
