2003 Toyota Land Cruiser Air Bag Parts Q&A
Q: How Should You Properly Deploy an Air Bag When Scrapping a Vehicle on 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: A Special Service Tool 09082-00700 (SRS Air Bag Deployment Tool) must be used first to deploy vehicle Air Bags in open areas before car scrapping or side Air Bag assembly disposal to refrain from irritating local residents. Ready a battery as power source while connecting the tool's red clip to the battery positive (+) terminal and the black clip to the battery negative (-) terminal but never touch the yellow connector which belongs to the supplemental restraint system. Use the tool only when the LED lamp turns on after switch activation and never operate it when the light turns on spontaneously. This indicates a potential equipment fault. First disconnect the tool from the battery source before separating the side Air Bag connector yet maintain the wiring harness of the Air Bag undamaged. Use Special Service Tools: 09082-00700, 09082-00750 to connect both connectors to the Air Bag connector but ignore locking the secondary lock of the twin system before moving the devices at least 10 m (33 ft) away from the vehicle while closing all doors and windows followed by reconnecting the tools to the battery. Push the activation switch only after confirming no person remains inside and after checking that no one stands within 10 m (33 ft) range of the vehicle. Wait 30 minutes for the side Air Bag assembly to cool down before touching it during service procedures while wearing special gloves and protective safety glasses and do not wash the assembly with water. Finish by properly washing your hands. During vehicle scrapping service personnel must activate the Air Bag before they remove it with its side Air Bag assembly still attached. The Special Service Tool deployment activates the Air Bag system when its LED illumination begins.
