2003 Toyota Celica Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Clutch on 2003 Toyota Celica?
A: Services and repairs for the compressor clutch start with running the engine at idle speed during a 10-minute A/C operation period before shutting down the engine and removing the negative battery wire. Start by discharging refrigerant from the refrigerant system and then removing the drive belt before disconnecting the cruise control actuator connector and removal of all three cruise control actuator set bolts. You should disconnect the discharge and suction hoses through removing two bolts before sealing the open fittings immediately to stop moisture and dirt from entering the system. The compressor removal process requires disconnecting the wire harness clamp and the connector before removing the three bolts secure its fixtures. Secure the compressor installation by bolt it to three points torqued at 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf) before connecting the corresponding element. Two new O-rings need lubrication using compressor oil before installation on the hoses. After that, connect both hoses together by bolts torqued to 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) immediately after removing the caps. When completed bands should include installation of the three cruise control actuator set bolts followed by reconnection of the cruise control actuator connector together with installation of the drive belt and reattachment of the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. The refrigeration system requires evacuation before adding 430 plus or minus 30 g (15.17 plus or minus 1.06 oz.) refrigerant while following specific methods. The technician will check for refrigerant leakage using a gas leak detector then check joint torque if leakage occurs followed by A/C operation inspection.
